What is HouseControl Chores?
HouseControl Chores is a family calendar and chore-rewards app for the HouseControl smart home system. It lives on your family’s HouseControl portal and gives every household member a shared weekly calendar — chores, school events, bin days, and rewards — all in one place.
Connect Your Google Account
HouseControl Chores connects to your Google Calendar so your family’s existing events appear alongside chores in the shared calendar view. When you connect an account, the app:
- Reads your calendar events to display them on the family dashboard
- Creates events on your calendar when you add chores with a due date
- Syncs updates in both directions while the connection is active
The connection uses Google’s standard Sign in with Google authorisation. You are always in control:
- You choose which Google account to connect
- You can disconnect at any time from the HouseControl Chores settings
- Your calendar data is only used to power your family’s shared calendar — it is never sold, shared, or used for advertising
- Revoking access in your Google Account settings immediately stops all access
Local-First by Design
Like every HouseControl feature, your calendar data is handled locally on your own hardware. HouseControl Chores does not upload your family calendar to the cloud — the Google connection exists only to bring your external calendar in and keep it in sync.
